SENATE SUSPEND GEMADE'S BILL ON CATTLE RANCHING, OTHERS.

Senate has stepped down the second reading of three bills on cattle rearing in the country. They are ‘A Bill for An Act to Provide for the Establishment of Grazing Areas Management Agency and For Other Related Matters 2016’ sponsored by Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso (Kano-Central) and ‘A Bill for An Act to Provide for the Establishment of National Ranches Commission for the Regulation, Management, Preservation and Control of Ranches and for Connected Purposes 2016 sponsored by Senator Barnabas Gemade (Benue North-East). The third is ‘A Bill for An Act to Control the Keeping and Movement of Cattle in Nigeria and for Other Related Matters Thereto 2016’ sponsored by Senator Chukwuka Utazi (Enugu-North). HERDSMEN ATTACKS: Presidency Sets Up Committee to Proffer Lasting Solution

News reaching our stable has it that The Presidency has finally moved to curb the violence between Fulani herdsmen and farmers across Nigeria. The Nation reports that the federal government has set up a technical committee to find solutions to the reoccurring clashes between the two factions. The committee, which was launched in Abuja on Tuesday, November 8 by the minister of interior Gen. Abdulraham Dambazau (rtd), has two weeks to come up with its findings. The committee is headed by the Director-General of the Institute of Peace, Conflict and Resolution, Prof. Osita Osita.
